Born in North London , Julie (and her twin sister, Clare) knew from an early age that they both wanted to become actresses.
Julie’s career has spanned twenty years as both a child and adult actress. She trained at the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London and first appeared as Young Eponine in “Les Miserables” in the West End . Her first major TV role was the leading role Natalie Stevens in “Grange Hill”, in which she appeared for 4 years.
As an adult actress, Julie’s first main TV role came in “Hollyoaks” as Julie Matthews, appearing in the very first episode and starring in the show for 2 years, returning in 2002 to reprise her role and more recently a guest appearance.
Among her other TV credits are guest appearances in “The Bill”, “Pie in the Sky”, “London’s Burning”, “Casualty” and most recently “Holby City” as Sarah Francis.
Since 1997 Julie has appeared in many leading roles on stage, touring in “Passport to Pimlico”, “Bad Blood”, “Caught in the Net”, “A Slice of Saturday Night” and “The Ghost Train”.
