From the producers of The Eva Cassidy Story and due to the success of The Viennese Strauss Gala, Theatre Productions are very proud to announce their next sparkling production.

 

The Waltz King is a picturesque presentation of Viennese life through the eyes of the Strauss Family, incorporating some of  Strauss’ famous Waltz’s and Polka’s with dramatic scenes and musical excerpts from  operettas such as  Die Fledemaus, Gypsy Baron etc.

 

The Waltz King chronicles one of the most enduring musical dynasties ever, a tempestuous tale of rivalry between father and family taking on the exalted title of

“The Waltz King”.

 

This musical production starts with the young Johann aged 18,   defying his fathers wishes to establish his own musical ensemble.

It also deals with the tragic death of his mother and subsequent premature death of his younger brother Josef. Two decades later Johann was the toast of three continents!

 

 

Johann marries his first wife the opera singer Jetty Treffz, who encourages him to write operettas and subsequently becomes the operetta King, a complex man, all of this success did not bring him contentment and ultimately in the piece he becomes a relative recluse before his inevitable demise.
