From Perthshire, Scotland, Soprano Alycia Fashae began her musical studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, under Ryland Davies and Honor Shepherd. In 1996 she won a place at the Centre de Formation Lyrique de L'Opéra National de Paris, remaining there for two years, making a debut for the Opera National in Rigoletto, and subsequently performing in Lulu and Bataclan while understudying the role of Servilia in La Clemenza Di Tito. Alycia toured extensively with the Centre, singing in many provincial Theatres, in such roles as Adina L’elisir d’amore, Lucia Lucia di Lammermoor, Fiordiligi Così fan tutte, Pamina Die Zauberflöte, Sister Constance Dialogues des Carmelites and Clorinda La cenerentola.
Since her return from France, Alycia Fashae’s engagements have included Frasquita Carmen, Leila The Pearl Fishers and Musetta La bohème for English National Opera, Hanna Glawari The Merry Widow on an extensive US tour for Columbia Artists, Donna Anna Don Giovanni for Mid-Wales Opera, Mimi La bohème, Gilda Rigoletto and Violetta La traviata for European Chamber Opera, Donna Anna Don Giovanni for Opera a la Carte, Donna Anna Don Giovanni, Pamina Die Zauberflöte, Antonia Les contes d’Hoffmann and Mimi La bohème for Diva Opera and Giannetta The Gondoliers for Carl Rosa Opera.
Alycia Fashae has broadcast for BBC Radio 3, St Antonio, Texas, Classical House, Pennsylvania State Radio and Radio France. Her concert repertoire has included the Brahms Requiem, Handel Messiah, Orff Carmina Burana, Rossini Stabat Mater, Schubert Mass in A flat and Richard Strauss Four Last Songs, whilst film appearances have included Baron’s Wife Il Cuor e La Strada (European Film Studios Collaboration) and Salome A Soldier’s Daughter Never Cries (Merchant Ivory).
Her recent and current engagements have included Leila The Pearl Fishers and Adele Die Fledermaus for Swansea City Opera, Norina Don Pasquale for Opéra á la Carte, Donna Anna Don Giovanni at the Gregynog Festival, Musetta La bohème for Mid Wales Opera, Adele Die Fledermaus for Opera Box and Rosalinde Die Fledermaus and Alice Ford Falstaff for Opera Project.
