Over the Rainbow is a compelling award-winning musical, which tells the life story of the legendary Eva Cassidy. Following her life through dramatic scenes and stunning live renditions of her most infamous songs, Over the Rainbow is a haunting ode to one of music’s forgotten greats. This award-winning show has received plaudits from the Eva Cassidy Band, members of the Cassidy family and contains projection and original footage from Eva’s life. The narrative follows Eva from an early age to her first professional gig aged 18. It moves through her first meeting with her boyfriend and mentor Chris Biondo and a rabble-rousing recording at Blues Alley with Chuck Brown. Finally, the production culminates in her poignant and tragic death.
As this world-class cast of actors and musicians (Sarah Jane Buckley, Pauline Fleming and Rob McVeigh) recreate her original arrangements and recordings, the show pays a genuine and heartfelt tribute to a true artist who was not interested in fame and fortune.
