Russell Goold Technical Director
This year heralds 36 professional years in the theatre industry for Russell. Starting as a stage-hand at the prestigious Leicester Haymarket Theatre, Russell went on to be the head flyman before eventually becoming the senior technical manager.
Throughout Russell's years at The Haymarket Theatre, it attracted many famous actors, writers and directors and became famous for producing world class productions with directors, actors and writers such as Michael Bogdanov, Graham Greene, Richard Ayre, Henry Krieger, Anthony Hopkins, Ian McKellen, Mia Farrow, Elaine Paige, Peter O’ Toole, Gary Oldman and hundreds more theatre, film and television luminaries.
Whilst at The Haymarket, Russell was involved in over 300 productions before going on to work for the Cameron Macintosh Organisation in London’s West End. Whilst working in London Russell worked on many shows and their consequential tours such as 'Phantom of the Opera', 'Les Miserables', 'Cats' and 'Sunset Boulevard' for Andrew Lloyd Webber - the list goes on! The true value of Russell’s technical and showman skills were highlighted by his invitation to work on both Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 50th birthday at the Albert Hall and to head up the Labour Party's 100th Birthday party, also in the West End.
As a seasoned Musical Theatre Production Manager, the list of productions Russell has been involved with is way too long for us to print here, instead here are just a few of his favourites - Gypsy, Oliver!, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma, Joseph, Gigi, Annie, Little Shop Of Horrors, Me and My Girl, The Pyjama Game, High Society, The Rocky Horror Show, Rent, West Side Story, Into the Woods, and many more (and all without mentioning any of the fantastic shows here at Theatre Productions!). |
